That's a shame we didn't meet before...

We meet backstage or at a festivals' "village pro", we talk a little bit at the Victoire de la Musique's buffet or in the politics anterooms, we shake hands with international English or in the airports' pidgin. But we never take time to get together all the music professionals. People of the music industry and those of the live music never get together, the European music counsellors are always apart from the independent metal labels, the variety booking agents never meet the associative rock venue managers and the administrators of non-trading companies are never at the same table that the executive managers of the major companies...

However, interests and worries are not the only things we share. An "industry", a "pattern" or a "sector", no matter how we call our activity, we only know a small part of it, the one in which we exercise our daily professional activity. Our professional vision of music is reduced to the aesthetics, the background and the country we know the most. But our professions are complementary, united, close but still too unfamiliar ones compared with the others, we have now experiences, reflexions, and artistic enthusiasm to share. We have a future to frame together with the knowledge of everyone of us. This is why MaMA was set up, to create foundations and a market of music so that all the professions and all the backgrounds finally meet.

We all know that in France, contrary to other countries, there is no place to introduce a new artist to his peers and to the journalist in good technical and human conditions. This is why we wanted to create a stage where producers, record companies and professional organisms can show and make the artists they defend heard to a public mainly composed of professionals.

Where was the best place to set up an event created for reflexion and debates, a place of meetings and professional opportunities, a showcase and a chance for the artists? Where else than in Bourges, two days before Le Printemps de Bourges, could we create this event? Every French professionals of the music industry once came to Le Printemps de Bourges, and hundred of them are faithful to this festival every year. On Monday and Tuesday the festival infrastructures will be ready, the concert halls will be in working order and the teams will be all set. So, this time instead of coming to Bourges with the midday train, come Sunday evening or Monday morning. Conferences, debates, round-tables, dozens of showcases and spaces dedicated to professional contacts will be organized.

We thank you our careful and generous partners, involved in our reflexion for the conception and the preparation of this first MaMA event.

It is the first time in France, we will go so far into a discussion with so many people and the first time we will see so many new artists in such a short time. Never we shall have the opportunity to say so often "oh, it's you" and "that's a shame we didn't meet before".

Right, why didn't we meet before?
